About Our Technical Director
Lee Brune
Lee Brune’s journey in theatre began at an early age, growing up in the Vereeniging Civic Theatre alongside his parents, Graham and Wendy Brune. His love for the stage started with childhood performances in Scrooge and Pinocchio, but it was behind the scenes—mixing sound at just 13 years old—where he truly found his passion.
Lee’s career has taken him across South Africa and beyond, working with renowned venues like Gold Reef City’s Lyric and Globe Theatres, The Sound Stage, and touring China with African Footprint in 2011. He spent five years at Prosound, where he played a key role in sound rental, training, and installations, before joining Sennheiser as a Pro Sales Representative, specializing in wireless microphone systems.
Despite working in top theatres, one of Lee’s most treasured experiences was collaborating with his father at the Lyric Theatre, where he was nominated for a Naledi Award for Best Sound Design on Shrek the Musical.
Now, as Technical Director at Barnyard Vereeniging, Lee brings his extensive expertise and passion for live sound, lighting, and production back to his hometown in the Vaal—continuing the Brune legacy in theatre.
